Meditation Can Be Like This

You walk into a crowded party. There are people laughing, dancing, and carrying on—swept away by the spirit of their interactions. A quiet man sits alone at a table, silently judging a very loud and boisterous party participant. All of a sudden, the room becomes extremely quiet and peaceful; the lights in the room go out, the ambience becomes very tranquil for what seems like an eternity, and then, some joker starts laughing uproariously right before the lights turn on again.

You are the guest and the host of the party, the quiet judge and the uproarious jokester, the dark room and the bright lights. And you are also not that.

You are always welcome to the party, exactly as you are.

Meditation can be like this.
